This 1970s teacake is a highly fragrant tea with smooth and mellow characteristics. This teacake is remarkably well aged but more importantly the clarity and clean flavors indicate that it was produced with good craftsmanship and had later undergone excellent storage. The teacake show signs of being heavily compressed in the mould of an iron cake but the long years of aging have loosened the leaves for easy flaking. The leaves are broken and appear extremely dry but it is remarkably durable and can last up to 15 steeps.

The hallmark of this tea is in its delightful aged wood character. The tea is full bodied with endearing flavors of aged wood combined with a subtle earthiness. After flushing the leaves release a warm and sweet fragrance - displaying elements of aged wood (very gentle and refined) amidst complex layers of burnt caramel, creme brulee, toasted marshmallows, nuts with undertones of barley and grains. The taste is sweet and malty with hints of roasted grains and barley in a woody/earthy background. The tea finishes with a soothing and gentle sweetness that leaves the body pulsating with an inner-warmth, the fragrance is long and lasting.
