The “88 Ching Beeng” is famous in the Puerh world for exhibiting the excellence of dry storage. Almost single handedly the emergence of this tea refocused people's attention to the pleasure and refinement of a naturally aged Puerh tea.

Age puerh tea over 30 years old is a scarce commodity in its own right. A typical wet stored teacake can easily cost upwards of US$1000. A marginally wet stored teacake or a rare dry stored teacake can be 3X to 5X the price. To an extent the numbers reflect the rarity of age puerh teas that have reached maturity under dry storage conditions. These numbers also support the view of many in the trade who hold a firm belief that with so little having been set aside to undergo this natural fermentation we have yet to fully explore the true potential of puerh tea aged under dry storage.

"The turn of the century sees a new era and a boom in puerh tea that is unprecedented. Never before have so many puerh collectors and enthusiasts from all over the world come to revel in this prize commodity. Never before have so much effort and care come into ensuring the best storage conditions perceived for ageing puerh tea. The future of puerh tea is an exciting one. The seeds of the new era have been planted under many conditions, some fraught with uncertainty, some fraught with peril and many will undoubtedly fall by the way side under the test of time, slowly but surely those hidden gems will emerge and reward those who have persevered.”, PuerhCha
