BREWING
TEA - COMMON MISTAKES

One of the most common mistakes
many people make when brewing good quality tea is using too little leaves
with the thought of saving some for future sessions. While this is understandable
as fine teas are expensive, you are really selling yourself short. Using
too little tea leaves results in boringly bland and insipid tea.
The end result is that you will get 2 sessions of very average
and mediocre tea instead of the one compelling and memorable experience
tea enthusiasts look to enrich their lives with. Only the right
ratio of leaf/water will bring out the range of complexity
and full potential good teas have to offer.
The second most common mistake
is brewing time. Most people tend to overbrew their tea
either because they're used to the Western method of brewing (ex. leave
teabag for 3-5 minutes) or get distracted. Being attentive during each
steep really pays dividend to your enjoyment. - A comparison can
be made to cooking. A fine rib-eye steak when cooked right is beautiful,
succulent and full of flavors. Overcooked, it becomes hard, dry and
unwelcoming.
